Nominations

The first class of honorees was recognized formally during the Honoree Class of 2008 Induction Dinner, held Tuesday evening, October 28, 2008, at the Renaissance Chicago O'Hare Suites Hotel. Following this initial Induction Dinner, each class of new honorees will be recognized on an annual basis, announced in April and honored in October.

Bellwether League Inc. seeks individuals that meet its criteria to be publicly recognized and recorded in print and online media for their contributions in advancing and improving all segments of the healthcare supply chain. The criteria include ethics, innovation, integrity, leadership, longevity, mentoring, reputation, speaking, teaching, writing and volunteering.

The Bellwether League Board of Directors carefully profiles individuals and leaders nominated for their healthcare supply chain management achievements, accomplishments, innovations, philosophy and vision. The best are then selected to be inducted into the industry “hall of fame.”

Bellwether League Inc. Honoree Nomination Criteria

The Board of Directors, to the best of its abilities, uses the following general guidelines to consider who will be honored.

  1. Accomplishments: Bellwethers contribute ongoing strategies and tactics for optimal supply chain and expense management performance, quality measurements, committee involvement, management leadership and active relationships customers and colleagues.

  2. Ethics: Bellwethers are known to maintain the highest professional standards, and equivalent personal standards, that can affect and influence professional behavior.

  3. Innovation: Bellwethers challenge the status quo, push the envelope and raise the bar in terms of critical thinking (strategies) and actions (tactics), pioneering new supply chain management models, concepts and ideas that may become reality. They advance the profession within their own and other (customer, client, partner) organization(s) from clinical, financial and operational perspectives.

  4. Integrity: Bellwethers are known for conducting themselves in a trustworthy and honorable manner.

  5. Leadership: Bellwethers are known for their pioneering influence. They have earned industry respect based on their professional conduct, ideas and achieved outcomes.

  6. Length of Service: Bellwethers have served the supply chain industry in an exemplary way for a minimum 25 years in a variety of settings.

  7. Mentoring: Bellwethers share their ample experience, knowledge and wisdom with other supply chain professionals to help them become more successful contributors to the healthcare industry.

  8. Reputation: Bellwethers are known to be highly regarded professionals within their organizations who influence those up and down the corporate hierarchy on the benefits and promotion of optimal supply chain management principles and techniques.

  9. Supply Chain Advocacy: Bellwethers contribute expertise about supply chain management operations on a local, regional or national level to audiences inside and outside supply chain management. Such efforts include active association participation (e.g., office holder, committee chair or contributor, speaking engagements); active media coverage (e.g., article writing or being interviewed by the trade media); teaching (e.g., supply chain educational, informational and training sessions for the C-suite, management team and/or clinicians); and volunteering (e.g., serving on task forces and teams dedicated to improving clinical, financial and operational activities, and charitable enterprises to assist those in need).
