Bellwether League, Inc.Tired of all the complaints about the healthcare supply chain?

SCHAUMBURG, IL (September 24, 2018) – It may be educational, entertaining or simply cathartic, but it’s easy to complain about and highlight all that may be wrong with the healthcare supply chain.

Yet that only represents one-half of a legitimate assessment.

At the 6th Annual Healthcare Supply Chain Leadership Summit next Monday, October 1, Bellwether League Inc., the Hall of Fame for Healthcare Supply Chain Leadership, aims to open some eyes and minds.

Bellwether League is scheduled to host two panel discussions at its annual educational event The first examines “What the Healthcare Supply Chain Does Right.”

Moderated by Bellwether League Board Member Nate Mickish (Future Famers Class of 2015), Vice President, Sourcing, Supply Chain Management, Texas Health Resources, the panel of three supply chain executives includes Nick Gaich, Bellwether League Chairman (Bellwether Class of 2013), CEO, Nick Gaich and Associates; Joe Colonna, Vice President, Supply Chain, Piedmont Healthcare; and Karen Conway, Vice President, Healthcare Value, GHX.

Back in August, Piedmont Healthcare was named by Healthcare Purchasing News as its 2018 Supply Chain Department of the Year. Further, Piedmont’s Amy Chieppa, Executive Director, Integration and Performance, is a member of Bellwether League’s Future Famers Class of 2018.

The second panel dives more deeply into a developing trend that has been simmering for years: “Exploring the Impact of Provider-Payer Convergence on the Healthcare Supply Chain.” As healthcare systems merge with or start their own insurance companies, and payers acquire financial interest in provider organizations, this panel will examine payer influence on purchasing decisions.

Moderated by Mickish, this panel of three includes Brent Johnson (Bellwether Class of 2014), who served as the Vice President, Supply Chain and Chief Procurement Officer at Intermountain Healthcare before retiring as CEO of Intalere; Pam Daigle, Vice President, Strategic Sourcing and Performance Groups, Premier Inc.; and Vance Moore, President, Business Integration, Mercy.

Moore is a past Board Member of Bellwether League; Premier is a Founding Sponsor of the Hall of Fame.

Bellwether League’s Forum is scheduled for 3:30-5 p.m. at The Westin-O-Hare in Rosemont, IL, a northwest suburb of Chicago near O’Hare International Airport.
